EU publishes supplementary document on PPWR compliance guidelines

The European Commission released the Supplemental Guidance Document for Compliance with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) on May 15, 2026. This document provides further clarification on key aspects of the regulation’s implementation, including the qualification assessment process.

The documents include lists of technical documents and templates for declarations of conformity. It is clearly stated that, starting on August 12, 2026, packaging without a declaration of conformity shall not be allowed to enter the European Union market. Additionally, it details the implementation schedule for the recyclability grades (A/B/C) of packaging for 2030 and 2038, providing clear guidance for companies to comply with the regulations.
