The Ministry of Commerce interprets the new standard of green packaging for e-commerce

The Ministry of Commerce officially released the interpretation of SB/T 11266-2026, “Technical and Management Requirements for Green Packaging in E-commerce,” on May 7, 2026. The standard will be fully implemented starting July 1. Key requirements include: packaging dimensions unified to 600×400mm, packaging layers limited to no more than three, prohibition of laminated paper and solvent-based adhesives, clear definition of the minimum number of recyclable uses for circular packaging, establishment of a mandatory recycling and labeling system, with a focus on packaging for home appliances and 3C products in e-commerce, and promotion of the greening and standardization of e-commerce packaging.
