On May 5, the large-scale coffee event hosted by the German Roasting Coffee Association -2026 Coffee Campus (Kaffee Campus 2026) officially kicked off at the Berlin Convention Center in Germany. This is a good opportunity for Vietnamese companies to dig deep into the high-quality coffee market and meet the stringent EU standards.

According to the Vietnam News Agency's correspondent in Germany, the 2026 Coffee Campus is held against the backdrop of the global coffee industry's strong shift towards sustainable consumption and source transparency. This event attracted hundreds of experts, top European roasters and importers to participate. It was not only a platform for product display, but also an in-depth B2B forum, which led to the signing of a number of business and supply contracts.

The Vietnamese product exhibition area organized by the Vietnamese Economic Affairs Office in Germany has the participation of enterprises such as Phuc Sinh Corporation, Dung Loi and Don Elephant. These units are currently pioneering climate-resilient production models to meet the growing demands of German consumers. The "Coffee Campus 2026" event also marks the transformation of Vietnamese enterprises: from raw material suppliers to specialty coffee and branded roast coffee suppliers.

Kristian Karenbrunen, marketing director of the German Roasted Coffee Association (Christian Kallenbrunnen), said that the association's members tend to source coffee directly from producing countries such as Vietnam, especially high-quality green coffee beans (Green Coffee).

Germany is currently the largest importer of raw coffee beans in Europe, with a total market revenue of nearly 20 billion euros. With around 2500 roasters in operation, the market opens up huge space for Vietnamese coffee exporters.

In 2025, Vietnam's coffee exports to Germany will reach 1.22 billion billion U.S. dollars, becoming the second largest source of coffee in Germany. However, Vietnamese coffee is still mainly used in industrial production and has not yet formed a strong brand. In response to this situation, Andreas Giest, president of the German Roasting Coffee Association, believes that in order to cultivate this high-end product market with huge potential, Vietnamese companies need to take the initiative to establish brands and prove the quality of their high-end Arabica (Arabica) and Robusta (Robusta) coffee beans.

Vietnam's Commercial Counsellor in Germany and representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Tang Shi Ching Fang, said that at present, Vietnam's large enterprises have better met the market and source traceability regulations and the international certification of sustainable agriculture (Rainforest Alliance-Rainforest Alliance) or social responsibility standards. However, Vietnamese enterprises still need to increase investment in brand building.

Vietnamese enterprises suggested that the competent authorities should support small and medium-sized enterprises and newly established enterprises to improve their capacity to quickly meet the relevant EU regulations, such as the EU's "Forest-off Products Regulation" (EUDR), geographical indication certification and import and export activities rules. This is regarded as a necessary "pass" for Vietnamese coffee beans to enter the German large supermarket system as soon as possible ".
