The export of 188,000 tons of five organic foods in 2017 generated 313 million dollars for the Bolivian economy. The main five foodstuffs exported are: chestnut, quinoa, banana, chia and beans.

According to the 2017 Bolivian Economy Report, the main export markets were South America, North America, Europe and Asia. In that period, 169 million dollars were obtained from the sale of 15,000 tons of chestnuts to Peru, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, France, Canada and Spain. Bolivia is one of the largest producers of chestnuts in the world.

In addition, 32,000 tons of quinoa were sold, valued at 74 million dollars. Likewise, the trade of 116,000 tons of banana, mainly to Argentina, Uruguay and Peru, gave a profit of 30 million dollars. Some 12,000 tons of chia were sold to Peru, the Netherlands and the United States for a total amount of 27 million dollars.

As described on plenglish.com, the Bolivian government intends to increase organic production by more than 10 percent by 2020, within the context of its current Social Economic Development Plan.
