King Tallow LLC, a Guaynabo, Puerto Rico establishment, is recalling approximately 353 pounds of beef tallow products that were processed, packaged, and labeled without the benefit of federal inspection, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The problem was discovered after FSIS received an anonymous consumer complaint about beef tallow products lacking the USDA mark of inspection being sold at a retail location in Carolina, Puerto Rico. FSIS determined that King Tallow LLC purchased beef fat from an FSIS-regulated facility, further processed it into tallow, portioned it into jars and relabeled the product without FSIS inspection.

The beef tallow products bear a nutrition facts label, which may lead consumers to believe the product is safe for human consumption. King Tallow LLC does not possess a federal grant of inspection and is not authorized to produce products intended for human consumption.

These products, produced from 2023 through May 2025, were shipped to retail locations in Puerto Rico and do not bear the USDA mark of inspection.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ pantries.

Products subject to recall:

• 10.5-oz. jars containing “GRASS FED Beef Tallow ARTISAN COOKING OIL by KING TALLOW.”

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Retailers are advised not to sell these products. Consumers concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
