Floria dried apricots recalled because of undeclared sulfites

Turkana Food Inc. of Kenilworth, NJ, is recalling 352 cases of Floria Dried Apricots because of undeclared sulfites on the product labeling. This poses a serious or life-threatening risk to individuals with sulfite sensitivities or allergies.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets revealed that the product contained sulfites not disclosed on the packaging. The company has halted production and distribution while the FDA and Turkana Food Inc. investigate to address the issue with the manufacturer.

The recalled product was distributed to retail locations in Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, Massacheseutts, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Albama, Missouri and California.

Floria Dried Apricots

  • Size: 200-gram paper packaging
  • UPC Code: 2539560010 (marked by a sticker on the top side of the package)
  • Lot Number: 440090478-15-333
  • Expiration Date: 11/2026
  • Distribution: Retail locations in FL, KY, VA, NY, NJ, TN, MA, TX, IL, IN, MI, RI, PA, NC, MD, VA, OH, AL, MO, CA

Lot number and expiration date are printed on the bottom portion of the package.

No illnesses have been reported as of the posting of this recall.

Consumers with sulfite sensitivities or allergies are urged not to consume the product and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
