Iran Food 2016 Fairtrade

The Iranian food trade market is one of the most important ones in the Middle East. Since the Iranian government has lifted import restrictions on food products, imports are increasing year by year. According to WTO-World Trade Organization, Iranian food imports have gone up with an annual growth rate of 9.4% between 2009 and 2013 making up for 13.140 bn US$ in 2013. Iranian food exports amounted to 5.222 bn US$.Thus food trade with Iran now stands for a 18.362 bn US$ business.

After the Vienna agreement between Iran and world powers of 14 July 2015 experts foresee Iranian imports now to increase even faster within the next few years. Hundreds of hotels and thousands of new restaurants are to be opened all over Iran, business and tourist travel is meant to explode in the years to come.
