ADM has acquired Flavor Infusion International (FISA), a provider of flavor and specialty ingredient solutions in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The move will broaden the company’s scope in the high-value flavor segment.

“Our nutrition segment has delivered profit growth of 15 to 20% a year, and our flavors business has been an important driver of that success,” says Vince Macciocchi, president of ADM’s nutrition business.

The high-end flavor segment has garnered annual sales growth of more than 10%.

Macciocchi outlines: “This acquisition represents another important bolt-on addition as we expand our capabilities in this high-value segment.”

Bringing flavor solutions to uncharted geographies
The acquisition of FISA provides novel growth opportunities in the F&B sectors of Latin America and the Caribbean. The deal includes two manufacturing facilities in Panama and Colombia.

ADM will expand its range of products and solutions in sectors that reflect growth opportunities across these regions.

“Having founded and owned numerous flavor operations for more than 50 years, I can confidently say that ADM is the ideal partner to carry on FISA’s legacy as a premier provider of flavor and specialty ingredient solutions to the beverage industry in Latin America and the Caribbean,” says Daniel DeClark, chairman and CEO of FISA.Earlier this year, the company acquired Sojaprotein, a European provider of soy ingredients.

ADM endeavors to bolster the R&D capabilities along with sales and marketing resources of FISA.

When COVID-19 started manifesting into a pandemic in mid-2020, ADM identified six emerging behavioral changes expected to influence innovation and product development in the months ahead.

Among the trending areas of interest for consumers were gut health, immunity, personalized nutrition and emotional well-being. These trends are still relevant at present, as the pandemic has not yet abated.

Plant-based predictions
Earlier this year, ADM  acquired Sojaprotein, a European provider of soy ingredients in order to grow its plant protein production capacity.

Plant-based proteins have dominated the F&B landscape, driving product introductions and industry buzz.

ADM previously identified key trends to spark innovation and growth in the plant-based space that included “Meaty Innovations,” “Keep it Clean” and “Comfort is King.”
