Plant-based food company Daiya Foods is planning to move to a larger production facility and corporate headquarters in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, in order to meet the growing demand for its food products.

By moving to a larger location, Daiya intends to expand its strategic operations and also speed-up innovation of its plant-based foods, while significantly increasing new employment opportunities in the region.

With its new 400,000ft² facility, Daiya intends to increase its administrative office space as well as distribution and warehousing capacities.

The increased capacity is expected to generate $1bn in revenue for the company.

Established in 2008, Daiya offers plant-based food products that are claimed to be dairy, gluten and soy free.

Daiya’s product line-up includes burritos, non-dairy frozen desserts, greek yoghurt alternatives, pizzas, cheesecakes and cream cheese style spreads.

“Our new headquarters represents a long-term investment in the future, not only for the Daiya brand but also for plant-based foods overall.”

CEO of Daiya Terry Tierney said: “Today’s consumers are now embracing plant-based foods as a great-tasting option that promotes a healthier lifestyle.

“We are expanding to enable our teams to continue to do the work that will further surprise and delight consumers around the world and accommodate our aggressive hiring growth plans over the next two to five years.

“Our new headquarters represents a long-term investment in the future, not only for the Daiya brand but also for plant-based foods overall.”

The company is planning to begin production at its new facility by the second quarter of next year and anticipates completing its employees relocation process by mid-2020.

Upon commencing the operations at its new facility, Daiya will focus on plant-based products for every part of the day and plans to offer benefits of a plant-forward lifestyle to more people worldwide.

For its new facility, the food company is understood to have signed a long-term lease with Blackwood Partners Management.

Blackwood Partners vice-president and general manager Bill Rempel said: “Daiya is a forward-thinking company that is having a very positive impact on our health and the global environment. We look forward to our partnership with Daiya and to witnessing their future growth and success.”
