According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the recalled products contain soy, an allergen that was not declared on the product label.

Bateman identified the problem on 31 July during its routine in-plant label verification activities.

The misbranded items were shipped to institutional locations in Arizona and California.

The not-ready-to-eat chicken entrees were produced on various dates from 30 June last year through 27 June this year, and feature establishment number ‘EST. P45096’ inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Bateman has not received any reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

Consumers who have bought these products have been urged not to consume them, and to dispose the product or return to the place of purchase.

This has been classified as a Class I recall, which indicates a health hazard situation wher the consumption of a product can possibly cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
