Home Bargains is recalling Milka Hazelnut (90g), Milka Whole Nut (95g) and Milka Oreo Brownie (100g) chocolate bars after discovering their labels failed to list key allergens in English.

The recall, issued by retailer TJ Morris Ltd, applies to all best-before dates and only affects products with non-English packaging.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned that the omission could pose “a possible health risk” for anyone with allergies or intolerances to milk, hazelnuts, soya, wheat, or gluten, as well as those with coeliac disease.

TJ Morris Ltd sold the affected Milka chocolate bars exclusively through Home Bargains stores across the UK.

The retailer said it had issued point-of-sale notices in stores and contacted allergy support organisations to alert customers to the issue and provide guidance on what to do if they have purchased the affected bars.

A spokesperson added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Consumers are urged to check their chocolate bar labels carefully and not eat the products if they have any of the listed allergies. Those who have purchased the affected items can return them to any Home Bargains store for a full refund, or contact the company’s customer careline at support@homebargains.co.uk.

The Home Bargains recall follows a similar incident in the US, wher Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory pulled two candy bars from sale just days before Halloween after detecting undeclared nuts, including cashews in its Peanut Butter Crush Bars and peanuts in its Cashew Cow Bars, believed to be the result of cross-contamination during production.
