Idaho Smokehouse Partners LLC of Shelley, ID, has updated its recall of 29,541 pounds—more than 14 tons—of ready-to-eat beef sticks after two consumers reported finding metal pieces in the product.

Initially announced on March 20, 2025, the recall has been expanded with new details about packaging and distribution, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The beef sticks, produced between Jan. 13 and 15, 2025, carry an expiration date of Feb. 10, 2026. The updated recall now specifies that the products were shipped to distribution centers in California, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Washington for further distribution to retail locations nationwide—broader than the originally reported California and Illinois retail locations.

Consumers can identify the recalled beef sticks by checking the following details, which now include an additional packaging type:

• 1.15-oz vacuum-sealed packages of “CHOMPS ORIGINAL BEEF STICK MILD,” with an expiration date of 02-10-2026 and lot code 25016 printed on the label. The product bears establishment number “6220A” ink-jetted on the package.
• Updated Information: 13.8-oz plastic bags containing 12 1.15-oz vacuum-sealed packages of “CHOMPS ORIGINAL BEEF STICK MILD,” with establishment number “V2059” and “LOT: 622025016” printed on the bags, along with an expiration date of 02-10-2026. The individual sticks inside have an expiration date of 02-10-2026, lot code 25016, and establishment number “6220A” ink-jetted on the package.

As of this update, no confirmed injuries have been reported from consuming these products. The USDA advises anyone concerned about potential injury to contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers are urged not to consume these beef sticks and should discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
