New Seasons Market recalls broth for undeclared soy

An undeclared soy allergen has caused the recall of 193 jars of New Seasons’ brand Hot & Sour Broth in all Oregon and Washington News Seasons Market stores, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products; “This recall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.”

The recall notice did not state what triggered the investigation, however, “The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the broth containing soy was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of soy.” According to the recall notice, the product contains Tamari sauce, which is made from soybeans.

No adverse reactions had been reported as of the posting of the recall notice on the Food and Drug Administration’s website.

The Hot & Sour Broth subject to the recall was distributed to all New Seasons Market stores in Oregon and Washington from 10/08/18 to 10/20/18 and includes all Best-By-Dates.

Consumers should look for the following packaging information to identify the recalled product:

Consumers are urged NOT to eat the recalled broth. New Seasons is urging customers with any soy concerns or allergies to return or dispose of the recalled broth for a full refund; “Receipts are not required for the return,” and “New Seasons is standing by to answer customer questions at its stores or via email.”
