Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) has agreed to purchase certain oilseeds assets of Algar Agro for an undisclosed amount.

ADM is a global food processing company, while Algar Agro is the agri-food division of Grupo Algar based in Brazil.

ADM will acquire the Algar Agro’s oilseeds processing facilities situated in Uberlândia in the state of Minas Gerais, and Porto Franco in Maranhão.

The transaction will enable ADM to fortify its presence in meal and bottled oil markets in Brazil. It will also allow ADM to access origination and storage silos in the north-east and south-east of Brazil.

Algar Agro’s 400 employees will be moved to ADM, upon completion of the transaction.

Hormel Foods has inked an agreement with WholeStone Farms for selling its pork processing facility in Fremont, US, for an undisclosed sum.

Hormel Foods is a food products company based in the US, while WholeStone Farms is a consortium of 220 hog farmers.

Raw pork products will be supplied to Hormel Foods, as part of the deal.

Pipeline Foods has agreed to acquire a 3.4 million bushel grain elevator in Atlantic from Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), for an undisclosed sum.

“The transaction enables FrieslandCampina to meet the increasing demand for dairy snacks as dippers across Europe, Asia, and North America.”

The firm will invest in new equipment and improve the elevator to test, clean, grade, dry, store and ship organic grains.

The Atlantic elevator will start operations in mid-September and will subsequently accept its first organic grain deliveries.

The latest acquisition will enable the company to operate six organic processing facilities in the US and Canada.

FrieslandCampina has completed the acquisition of Parrano and Tjiezi brands from Best Cheese Holland for an undisclosed sum.

FrieslandCampina is a producer and distributor of infant nutrition, cheese, desserts and dairy-based beverages in many European countries, Asia, and Africa.

The transaction enables FrieslandCampina to meet the increasing demand for dairy snacks as dippers across Europe, Asia, and North America.

FrieslandCampina has also agreed to acquire Best Cheese Holland’s import and sales activities in the US, for an undisclosed sum.

Tyson Foods has inked an agreement with Marfrig Global Foods for the acquisition of Keystone Foods for $2.16bn.

based in the US, Tyson Foods is engaged in the production of food products, while Keystone is a supplier of chicken, beef, fish, and pork to quick-service restaurant chains, as well as retail and convenience store channels.

The transaction will allow Tyson Foods to acquire six processing plants and an innovation centre in the US.

The acquisition will also include eight plants and three innovation centres in China, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and Australia.

The deal will enable Tyson Foods to expand its value-added protein capabilities.

BASF has acquired vegetable seeds company Nunhems from Bayer for €7.6bn ($8.7bn).

BASF is a chemical firm based in Germany, while the vegetable seeds business of Bayer includes 24 crops and approximately 2,600 varieties.

The transaction allows BASF to add a new brand to its portfolio, access research and development (R&D) capabilities, as well as breeding systems of Nunhems.
