A Spanish company has refuted any connection to a recall of cheese in Belgium because of Listeria monocytogenes.
Cordier Food Group recalled one lot of Entrepinares brand Manchego raw milk cheese in April in Belgium because of potential Listeria contamination.
In a statement, Queserías Entrepinares S.A.U, which produces the Entrepinares brand, said: “We categorically deny that the product implicated in this health alert is part of our production. After a thorough review of our records, processes, and batches, we can state with complete certainty that it does not correspond to any of our products.
“Queserías Entrepinares S.A.U. rigorously guarantees quality, traceability, and food safety in all its production, packaging, and distribution processes, as well as in all its products sold nationwide. We strictly comply with national and European regulations regarding food hygiene.
“We are grateful for the trust and continued support of our customers, distributors, and partners. At Queserías Entrepinares S.A.U., we will continue to work, as always, with the utmost responsibility and commitment to excellence and consumer safety.”
The company added it will take appropriate legal action to defend itself against unauthorized use of its trademark.
In Belgium, the 180-gram packs of cheese were distributed by Cordier Food Group. It had lot number B95613 and a use-by date of April 28. The product had been sold since the end of February 2025.
Spain reported 436 cases of listeriosis and 54 related deaths in 2023.
