about lead poisoning
Short-term exposure to low levels of lead may not cause immediate symptoms, but increased blood lead levels may be the only sign of exposure. Prolonged exposure, especially in children, can lead to permanent damage to the central nervous system, resulting in learning disorders, developmental defects, and other long-term health issues. In adults, chronic lead exposure is linked to kidney dysfunction, hypertension, and neurocognitive effects. Exposure to high levels of lead can cause lead poisoning, affecting nearly every bodily system, with effects depending on the amount and duration of exposure and the age of the individual.
