Johnsonville LLC of Momence, IL, is recalling 22,672 pounds of cheddar bratwurst after receiving consumer complaints of hard plastic in the product, according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The cheddar bratwurst was produced on Feb. 5. The recall notice did not include an expiration date.

FSIS is concerned that some of the product may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Consumers can identify the recalled product by looking for the following: 19-oz. sealed firm tray packages containing five pieces of “Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst” and the package code B9FOD. The product has the establishment number “Est. 1647” on the front of the label.

The product was shipped to retail locations in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
