Supercan Bulk of Miami, FL, is recalling a single lot of its Supercan Pig Ear Slivers pet treats because of potential Salmonella contamination. The recall involves 500-piece, 15.9-ounce bags of “Supercan Pig Ear Slivers – Thick Cut Piggy Ear Slices” with an expiration date of Nov. 9, 2026, posing risks to both pets and their owners.

The contamination was uncovered when the Washington State Department of Agriculture tested samples collected on March 4, 2025, confirming Salmonella’s presence. The affected lot was distributed starting April 11, 2024, exclusively to a North 40 store in Washington State.

Pets consuming Salmonella-contaminated products may show lethargy, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, vomiting or reduced appetite with abdominal pain. Healthy pets can also carry the bacteria, potentially spreading it to other animals or humans. Owners noticing these symptoms in pets that ate the recalled treats should contact a veterinarian promptly.

Humans handling the product face risks too, especially without thorough handwashing after contact with the treats or contaminated surfaces. Salmonella in humans can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), abdominal cramps, and fever, with rare cases leading to severe conditions like arterial infections or arthritis. Consumers experiencing these symptoms after handling the product should seek medical care.

Recalled product:

  • 15.9-oz. (450-gram) bags of “Supercan Pig Ear Slivers – Thick Cut Piggy Ear Slices” with expiration date 11/09/2026 on the back of the package.

As of the posting of this recall, no illnesses have been reported.

Consumers who purchased the recalled pig ear slivers are urged not to feed them to pets or other animals. The product should be destroyed in a way that keeps it out of reach of children, pets, and wildlife or returned to the place of purchase.
