Undeclared sulphites in UK

In the UK, Delibo Wine Agencies has recalled its Bibo Runge Deserteur De-alcoholised Riesling Wine due to undeclared sulphites.

The product is sold in 750ml bottles. It has the batch code L1223 and a best before date of 10 August 2024.

Delibo Wine Agencies has also been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. A point-of-sale notice has also been issued to its customers.

Customers who have purchased the product and have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites have been advised not to drink it. Instead, they can return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Undeclared allergens

In the US

Meanwhile, US company Da Cheng Vegetarian Food Inc has expanded its recall of Da Cheng Vegan Drumsticks to also include Vegan Golden Nuggets as they both contain undeclared egg.

The original recall involved Da Cheng Vegan Drumsticks that were distributed to various restaurants, one distributor in Houston, Texas, and one retail store in Orange County, Southern California. The Vegan Drumsticks were sold in 6.6lb packages and with the expiration date 09/23/2023.

The newly recalled Vegan Golden Nuggets are packaged in 1lb and 6.6lb plastic packages and were distributed to locations in California, Utah, and Virginia. Although all affected products have been removed from sale, consumers who previously purchased these items should look out for expiration dates between 9/22/2023 and 01/11/2024. Consumers who have purchased the products have been urged to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

The company’s own investigation found that the problem was caused by manufacturer’s negligence on the assembly line due to an employee using the wrong ingredient.

To date, one allergic reaction to egg has been reported.

Production of the Vegan Golden Nuggets has been suspended until the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the company are certain that the problem has been resolved.

In the UK

Customers who have bought the product and have an allergy to celery should not to eat it. Instead, they can return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.
