Kraft Heinz will spend $48 million to expand its Springfield, Mo., manufacturing operations to increase capacity of Kraft American Singles, Kraft Natural Cheese and Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.

Economic development group Missouri Partnership announced the plans in July, saying its part of a five-year upgrade of the plant and the third major capital investment in the facility over the last several years.

It employs nearly 1,000. Early this year, Kraft Heinz unveiled plans to spend $25 million on its Garland, Texas, plant, which makes Lunchables, Oscar Mayer Naturals, Kraft barbecue sauce and Velveeta Skillets.
