Kraft Heinz Co. will spend $25 million in capital investments to its Garland, Texas, plant after receiving incentives from a Texas state program.

The Dallas suburb nominated Kraft Heinz for participation in the Texas Enterprise Zone Program, which offers financial incentives to foster investment activity and job creation in designated enterprise zones, according to Biznow, a Dallas-Fort Worth business news website. Local news reports did not say how much funding was coming from the state and how much from the company.

The company said it will make substantial renovations and improvements to the facility, including buying new equipment, in the process creating at least 250 jobs; the plant already employs 843.

The 266,000-sq.-ft. plant sits on 50 acres. It makes Lunchables, Oscar Mayer Naturals, Kraft barbecue sauce and Velveeta Skillets, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Kraft Heinz was created by the 2015 merger of the formerly separate companies. This expansion is a good sign, since the company has been following a consolidation plan to close plants and trim jobs.
