The durian, a unique fruit loathed and loved by many has recently turned Malaysian Chin Ken Soon into a millionaire. He is the owner of 197.7 acres of fruit plantation in the Malaysian state of Pahang.

Thanks to his enterprising attitude, he makes RM8 million (US$1.91 million) a month by selling durians and other fruits consisting of starfruit, mangosteen, watermelon and papaya. In fact, sales from durian alone amounts to US$950,000 a month. Chin has various types of durians from the famous Musang King to the D24. He ships out 100 tonnes of these fruits to countries such as Saudi Arabia, China and the Europe.

Chin explains that he also exports about 100 tonnes of other kinds of fruits to countries like China, Saudi Arabia, and Europe. He is now intending to open 10 fruit malls nationwide. The first of these malls was already open in July in his home state, Negeri Sembilan.
