"Description

Apigenin is an antioxidant compound that naturally occurs in plants. It can be found in herbs and vegetables, such as parsley, onions, oranges, chamomile, wheat sprouts, and some seasonings.

Apigenin possess anti-inflammatory and bactericidal, relaxant activities, as well as acaricidal properties. It is useful for treatment of stomachache, irritable bowel syndrome, and insomnia.

Aside from its biological effects, apigenin is a yellow crystalline commonly used to dye garments.

Functions and Features

● Commonly used for its antioxidant, antimicrobial, antidepression, anti-inflammatory, antidiarrheal and angiogenesis activity, anticarcinogenic, hepatoprotective, and antidiabetic effects. Besides, it is beneficial for knee osteoarthritis, ulcerative colitis, premenstrual syndrome, and gastrointestinal disorders.



Applications

● Apigenin and some of its derivatives are clinically affirmed anti-tumor medicinal materials;

● Applied in after-meal and bedtime drink;

● Used for a variety of ailments including colic (especially in children), bloat, mild upper respiratory infections, premenstrual pain, anxiety, and insomnia;

● Applied in cosmetic products with properties of whitening, anti-wrinkle and UV protection, or to treat sore and chapped nipples in nursing mothers, as well as minor skin infections and abrasions. Eye drops containing apigenin may benefit for tired eyes and mild ocular infections."
