Urschel was founded by William E. Urschel in Valparaiso, Indiana. At the beginning of the company's establishment, the first mechanical equipment was gooseberry cutter, which was a kind of special mechanical equipment for cutting gooseberry roots. The equipment could replace the workload of more than 100 workers every day and was widely provided to the cannery in Michigan at that time.
