Undeclared allergens

In the UK, Tesco is recalling its Plant Chef Sweet Potato & Chickpea Tikka Masala as it may contain milk that is not declared on the label.

The product comes in a pack size of 400g and has the batch code L23215S. The best before date to look out for is 31 August 2024.

As well as recalling the above product, Tesco has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

A food product recall highlights the potential risk that commonly consumed foods and drinks can have on human health – and often makes headlines that can be both financially and reputationally damaging for the businesses concerned. The retailer has issued a recall notice to its customers to explain why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

Advice states that those that have purchased the product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents should not eat it. Instead, they can return it to the store from wher it was bought for a full refund with no receipt is required.

Meanwhile in the US, Raw SeaFoods, Inc. of Fall River, Massachusetts is recalling Farm Raised Lightly Seasoned Atlantic Salmon Burgers as they may contain sesame and milk allergens that are not mentioned on the label.

 

The recalled product was sold in the seafood department of Whole Foods Market stores nationwide from 25 August 2023 until 15 November 2023. only these dates are impacted in this recall.

The product was wrapped in paper or prepackaged in clear trays with the PLU code 56228:

The issue was discovered following a vendor reporting visible sesame seeds present on the product. The company has said that an investigation is currently under way to discover the cause and claims “no illnesses have been reported to date”.

Those with an allergy or sensitivity to sesame or milk have been advised that they not consume the product and customers who purchased this product at Whole Foods Market can obtain a refund by bringing a valid receipt into stores.
