Snack manufacturer Outstanding Foods has raised $5m capital in a new financing round led by SternAegis Ventures.

The round has seen the addition of Los Angeles Laker JaVale McGee to the roster of celebrity investors in the plant-based brand.

Outstanding Foods co-founder and CEO Bill Glaser said: “This funding provides us with the opportunity to reach more consumers and give them more ways to snack on great-tasting, healthy, plant-based snacks.

“Consumers have been freaking out over our PigOut Pigless Pork Rinds that are Addictively Delicious and have the same protein content as beef. Soon, they’ll be able to experience other Outstanding snacks that we feel will be game-changers!”

Outstanding Foods claims that its products are manufactured using 100% plant-based ingredients containing protein and other health benefits.

Said to be free from gluten, soy, GMOs, trans fats, and cholesterol, its products are available on the company’s website and selected retailers nationwide.

The new funding will be used by the company to fast-track its research and development activities, as well as for nationwide marketing, retail expansion, and team development.
