Washington Beef of Toppenish, Washington, is recalling about 30,260 pounds of ground beef chubs that may be contaminated with foreign materials, more specifically hard plastic and metal. This poses a choking hazard and can cause mouth injuries. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been received to date.

You can see the list of recalled products at the USDA web site. And you can see pictures of product labels at that site. The brands that were recalled are Double R Ranch, St. Helens, and American Wagyu, with various weights and types. The ground beef chubs were produced on December 27, 2018 and have a “Use or Freeze by” date of 01/20/19. They have the establishment number “EST. 235” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped nationwide. A consumer complaint prompted the recall.

If you purchased any of these ground beef products, do not eat them. The government is concerned that some of these products could be frozen in consumers’ home freezers. Please check your freezer carefully. If you have one of these products in your home, do not eat it. Throw it away after first wrapping it in foil or plastic wrap. You can also take it back to the store wher you purchased it for a full refund.
