The season when garlic is entered into storage is over, and although the nationwide statistics are not yet in, the garlic storage volume in Jinxiang already exceeds 2 million tons, which is a slight increase in comparison with the same period in the previous year. Since purchasing traders in 2018 were not deterred by the price decrease of stored garlic in the previous year, it is expected that the garlic market will again polarize this year.

Market conditions expected to polarize

There are two broad groups in the garlic market. One group is pessimistic. They think that the market conditions for stored garlic will be even worse than they were last year. The other group is optimistic. They predict that even though a large volume of stored garlic will make it, the market conditions will be good.

The pessimistic people mainly base their expectations on the minute difference between the garlic volume in storage this year and last year. Some even expect the volume to increase. Since market conditions were not great last year, they do not expect market conditions to improve this year. The optimistic people think that those who bemoan the garlic market conditions are speculating in order to scare off competition and increase their own profit. The optimistic people still think that garlic in storage will sell at a good price.
