Fermentalg, an industrial biotechnology company that specialises in the production of oils and proteins derived from microalgae, has confirmed that production has begun for the first batches of microalgae oil.

Fermentalg, an industrial biotechnology company that specialises in the production of oils and proteins derived from microalgae, has confirmed that production has begun on schedule for the first batches of microalgae oil that is naturally rich in DHA.

DHA is a highly sought-after essential fatty acid (Omega-3) known for its role in the prevention of numerous illnesses. It is, the company notes, recognised for its beneficial effects on the brain (tissue, healthy development and increase in intellectual capacity) and the heart (reduction in triglycerides, cholesterol and the risk of cardiovascular disease).

Production was launched by Fermentalg partner ARD which specialises in bio-refining, industrial biotechnologies and bio-based chemistry and is located in Pomacle in the Marne region of France. The first batches are in the process of being refined and will be delivered to several potential partners as part of a pre-launch campaign.
