In the recently released 2026 edition of the “World’s 101 Best Burger Places” ranking by Upper Cut Media House, a local restaurant from São Paulo, Brazil, made it into the top 100. This marks another significant international achievement for the Brazilian restaurant industry, following the expansion of the original “Top 25” list to 101 places in this year’s authoritative ranking.
The Brazilian restaurant that successfully made it onto the list is Grindhouse Braserito, located in Pinheiros, West Zone, São Paulo. It ranks 89th globally. The restaurant, founded in 2023 by Argentine chef and entrepreneur Santi Roig, is renowned for its expertise in open-fire charcoal grilling techniques. In addition to burgers, the establishment offers traditional dishes with an Argentinean twist, such as meat pies and various high-quality charcoal-grilled beef cuts (e.g., eye of round, skirt steak). Due to its strong reception, Chef Roig opened a sister restaurant, “Grindhouse Braserito 1%,” in 2025, which focuses exclusively on burgers.
According to the organizers, this list was compiled by a group of anonymous star chefs, meat experts, and food journalists. The evaluation criteria covered seven key pillars, including the origin of the meat, cooking techniques, customer experience, sustainability, and food safety. In this year’s evaluation, Bleecker Burger in London, England, was crowned the global champion, while the top ten spots were dominated by restaurants from the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, China, and Denmark.
It’s worth noting that the high standards of hamburger-making in São Paulo have recently garnered significant attention within the international culinary community. Prior to this, in the 2026 Global 25 Best Burger Restaurants list published by the renowned Swedish hamburger review website Burgerdudes, local restaurants in São Paulo also achieved considerable recognition. In that list, Grindhouse Braserito’s signature Argentinean Saltwater Charcoal-Grilled Ribeye Burger (Hamburguesa de Costilla) ranked highly at number 11 globally. Meanwhile, Holy Burger, located in the heart of São Paulo, took the second spot globally. Not only was it named the “Best Burger Restaurant in the Americas,” but its selection of dry-aged meat paired with bacon, sugarcane syrup (Pony Line) also received high praise from international judges.
