In the food packaging industry, the safety and environmental protection of ink in the high temperature processing scene has always been the core pain point of the industry upgrade.

In the food packaging industry, the issues of ink safety and environmental protection in high-temperature processing scenarios have always been the core pain points for industry upgrading. Traditional inks are prone to problems such as migration, color fading, and insufficient stability during processes like baking and high-temperature sterilization. This not only affects food safety but also fails to align with the current trend of green packaging.

Recently, Sun Chemical, the world's leading ink manufacturer, has officially launched the new AquaHeat series of water-based printing inks. These inks are specifically designed for high-temperature processing of food packaging, precisely addressing industry pain points, bringing a brand-new upgrade solution to the field of food packaging printing, and injecting new impetus into the green and safe development of the packaging industry.

Core breakthrough:

220℃ 高温耐受,筑牢高温食品包装的安全防线

High-temperature processed food packaging (such as bread, pastries, ready-to-eat meals, etc.) has extremely high requirements for the heat resistance of inks. Traditional inks often cannot withstand temperatures above 200℃ and are prone to ink migration and color fading, posing potential food safety risks. However, Sun Chemical's AquaHeat series has the most outstanding advantage in terms of excellent heat resistance.

This series of inks can withstand a maximum temperature of 220℃ and is perfectly suitable for mainstream food processing scenarios such as packaging baking and high-temperature sterilization. It effectively avoids the risk of ink migration in high-temperature environments from the source. At the same time, the product is produced using food-contact-grade safe raw materials and strictly complies with global food packaging safety regulations. It meets the refined control requirements for food-contact inks in GB 4806.14-2023 "National Food Safety Standard - Food Contact Materials and Products - Inks". This completely resolves the safety issues of traditional high-temperature food packaging inks and comprehensively safeguards the safety bottom line of food packaging.

Green Empowerment:

The bio-based components account for 60%, aligning with the industry's sustainable trend.

With the advancement of the "carbon neutrality" goal and the implementation of global plastic reduction regulations, green sustainability has become the core development direction of the packaging industry. The global market size of sustainable packaging is expected to exceed 400 billion US dollars by 2026. The substitution of bio-based materials and the improvement of recyclability have become the key focuses of the industry. Sun Chemical's AquaHeat series also performs outstandingly in terms of environmental protection, precisely aligning with the industry's development trends.

It is reported that the bio-based recyclable components of this series of inks can account for up to 60%. This significantly reduces reliance on fossil-based materials and enables an environmental upgrade at the raw material level. At the same time, when combined with a dedicated liquid functional coating, it can help packaging substrates such as paper and cardboard achieve efficient recyclability, promoting an environmental closed-loop throughout the packaging life cycle. This not only aligns with global green packaging policy guidelines but also enables downstream enterprises to implement sustainable development concepts and reduce environmental compliance costs.

As a water-based system product, the AquaHeat series inherently has the advantage of low VOC emissions. Compared to traditional solvent-based inks, it better meets the environmental protection and emission reduction requirements of the printing industry, helping packaging printing enterprises achieve a green production transformation.

Efficient Adaptation:

Taking into account both printing quality and production efficiency, and meeting the demands of industrialization.

While meeting the requirements of safety and environmental protection, the AquaHeat series also fully takes into account the actual production needs of packaging enterprises, achieving a balance among environmental friendliness, printing applicability and production efficiency.

This series of inks can be applied to both intaglio and flexographic high-speed printing processes. They are compatible with various common packaging substrates such as paper, cardboard, and film. Without the need for extensive modifications to existing production equipment, they can be quickly integrated into the existing production system of enterprises, meeting the requirements of industrialized efficient production. Additionally, the series includes 10 basic inks, offering a wider color gamut and superior printing effects. Combined with exclusive color design tools, they can effectively reduce production rework rates, shorten product development cycles, and help enterprises enhance production efficiency and reduce production costs.

Industry significance: Promoting a comprehensive upgrade of the food packaging printing industry

The AquaHeat series launched by Sun Chemical is not merely an upgrade of a single product; rather, it represents a comprehensive optimization in the field of high-temperature food packaging printing. This series takes into account the safety of food packaging, printing quality, production efficiency, and sustainable development, providing a one-stop high-quality solution for the high-temperature food packaging sector and filling the market gap for environmentally friendly and safe water-based inks in high-temperature environments.

From the perspective of industry development, the launch of the AquaHeat series not only demonstrates the strength of leading enterprises in ink technology research and development, but also leads the food packaging printing industry to upgrade towards a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more efficient direction, providing new ideas and references for the high-quality development of the packaging industry.

In the future, as the green packaging policies continue to tighten and consumer demands keep upgrading, it is believed that more enterprises will engage in the research and application of environmentally friendly and safe packaging materials, promoting the sustainable development of the packaging industry in a virtuous cycle.
